What NextChapter is
NextChapter is a resource hub for anyone approaching, in the middle of, or well into retirement. It exists because most retirement content falls into one of two buckets: dense financial planning material aimed at advisors, or lifestyle content that skips the harder adjustments entirely. This site tries to sit in between — plain-language guidance on the practical and personal sides of the transition, alongside real accounts from people living it.
Who it's for
- People a few years out from retirement who want to know what's actually coming, not just the financial checklist.
- People recently retired, working through the identity and routine shift that often catches people off guard.
- Adult children helping a parent think through housing, healthcare, or estate decisions.
- Anyone who wants to read — or share — honest accounts of what retirement is really like.
How the content is put together
Topic pages are written as practical starting points, not exhaustive guides — each one links out to authoritative sources (government agencies, established nonprofits, and reputable financial and health organizations) for the details that matter most, like exact enrollment deadlines or benefit calculations, which change over time and are best gotten straight from the source.
This isn't financial, legal, or medical advice
Content on this site is general information only. Retirement decisions — when to claim Social Security, how to structure withdrawals, estate planning, health coverage — are personal and often irreversible. Please talk to a qualified financial advisor, elder law attorney, or healthcare provider before making decisions based on anything you read here.
Community Stories
The stories shared on this site come directly from visitors and are lightly reviewed before publishing, mainly to filter spam and remove anything identifying. They represent individual experiences, not universal advice — what worked for one person's retirement won't necessarily apply to yours, but the range of perspectives is often more useful than any single guide.
